The three things you need to know about Gordon Beecher are:
Number One, and probably most important, I have a curious affinity for antique typewriters. In a time when Charles Duell uttered "everything that can be invented has been invented," we sought to prove him wrong and built things to last. There was a time when Remington & Sons couldn’t decide on sewing machines or guns, so they made... typewriters. I love them - pre-1930s, industrial, utilitarian, hard-working. They remind me of a era when a product was valued for its quality, and I believe in the nostalgic ideology that quality must come first.
Number Two. I have a resume full of failure, but I gave up on quitting. Like the English proverb says, "a calm sea does not make a skilled sailor." So I have wrestled with titans and won, but more importantly, I have survived the losses, each making me stronger and more knowledgeable. I suppose every applicant wants you to focus on his/her victories, but I think it's crucial to delve into the defeats! When learning to snowboard, my mother used to say "if you aren't falling, you aren't learning anything new." So I have fallen. Many times. But I have learned! And, I think that makes me very valuable.
Which brings us to Number Three. I have experience... in everything. And that is not necessarily a good thing because potential employers like to focus on specialization. But, I think diverse experience is essential in business. And, oh, the stories I will gladly share! My non-resume resume reads like a Dos Equis commercial:
So, welcome to my page and thank you for your interest. I hope all of this entices you to read further. There's more value to be found below.
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
brown paper packages tied up with strings ...this is some of my work.
